Convenience store chain QuickChek is opening its first store and training center on Long Island this month as it plans to add locations across Long Island.

Whitehouse Station, New Jersey-based QuickChek will hold a public grand opening Oct. 27 at 2686 Middle Country Rd. in Lake Grove. The nearly 6,000-square-foot QuickChek store and gas station will be open 24 hours a day.

The new store will feature a café, which will offer handcrafted smoothies, lattes, espresso-based drinks and freshly-brewed coffee; indoor seating for 14 people and outdoor seating for eight; eight fueling stations and 69 parking spaces. It will also have touchscreens that will allow consumers to custom make their subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads.

Islip is also one step closer to getting a QuickChek. The Islip Town board approved last month the company's change of zone application for a proposed new gas station and convenience store, on Motor Parkway and Washington Avenue in Brentwood.

Consumers voted QuickChek as having the best coffee in America this year out of the 20 largest convenience store chains. The family-owned and operated chain has 138 stores in New Jersey and New York.
