RE/MAX hosts safety seminar for real estate agents
Long Island real estate agents and brokers can attend a free safety seminar Oct. 29 in Melville.
The event will take place from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Blackstone Steakhouse, at 10 Pinelawn Rd.
The brokerage RE/MAX of New York is hosting the seminar to help sales people protect themselves after the recent slaying of a real estate agent in Arkansas. The agent, Beverly Carter, went missing after showing a home on Sept. 25. The 50-year-old grandmother's body was found several days later; a 33-year-old man, Arron Lewis, has been charged in her death, according to news reports.
Safety expert Robert Siciliano will help real estate professionals understand and avoid potential dangers, the brokerage stated in a news release.
"The business of showing real estate puts agents in a potentially vulnerable position," Henry Weber, president of RE/MAX of New York Inc., said in a statement. The seminar, and others like it in other regions, he said, "will assist members of the real estate community to learn techniques and strategies to protect themselves and avoid potentially dangerous situations."
The event is open to all Long Island real estate professionals. It will be followed by a networking cocktail party that runs until 5:30 p.m.
