A Prudential Douglas Elliman manager who resigned after a flap over a real estate ad joined a competing agency Monday.

Jay Flagg, who headed Prudential's Southampton office, is now with Saunders & Associates. "We're very excited to have Jay joining our team," says Andrew Saunders, founder and president of Saunders & Associates. "Jay's a storied figure in Southampton real estate." He will open a Southampton office for Saunders within the new few months.

Real estate sources say Flagg ruffled feathers when he took out an ad where his name appeared larger than Prudential's name. He soon resigned as branch manager, a position he had held for a decade, but stayed on as an agent.

He soon took on the listing for supermodel Christie Brinkley's 1843 Greek Revival house in North Haven. The asking price is $15.75 million.
