If you take blood pressure medication, check your pills.

India-based drug company Inventia Healthcare Limited has voluntarily recalled more than 13,000 bottles of 25 mg chlorthalidone tablets that may not dissolve properly. The nationwide recall was initiated on Sept. 3 for batch RISA24002, with an expiration date in April 2027.

The company issued another recall June 5 for more than 11,000 bottles of 25 mg chlorthalidone tablets, also for dissolution issues. The June recall was for batch RISB24002, also expiring in April 2027.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration classified both as Class II recalls, meaning exposure to the product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is a "chronic condition where the force of blood moving through blood vessels ... is consistently too high" and increases risk for heart disease or stroke, according to the state Department of Health. According to 2021 state data, around 32.9% of adults in Suffolk County and 27.4% of adults in Nassau County suffer from high blood pressure.
