A new regional report that looks at the economic, environmental and public health aspects of preserving open space will be made public next week.

Release of the report, titled Benefits of Parks and Open Space on Long Island, will take place at an event in Patchogue.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli will give the keynote speech at the Tuesday meeting, sponsored by the Long Island Community Foundation and the Rauch Foundation.

It will start at 12:30 p.m. at the Fire Island National Seashore Visitor's Center, 120 Laurel St., Patchogue.

A Thursday news release from the Garden City-based Rauch Foundation says, “Come see why the Island's ongoing investments in preserved land makes both dollars and sense.”
