Ronkonkoma-based CVD Equipment Corp. has launched a new line of products with Graphene Laboratories Inc., the companies announced this week.

CVD will manufacture products with graphene, a novel carbon nanomaterial film, and Graphene Laboratories, based in Reading, Mass., will market them worldwide.

The companies said it is the first time the single layer, two-dimensional material will be available commercially.

Karlheinz Strobl, CVD’s vice president of business development, said, “With the newly developed CVDGraphene manufacturing process on copper foils, we can now support a larger base of customer requests working in the electronic, solar, bio and medical fields.”

CVD said graphene "is a novel carbon nanomaterial film that is only one atom thick and has unique electrical and mechanical properties as well as supreme stability and durability. CVD grown Graphene is projected to be used for production of Graphene-based electronics, sensors, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), solar batteries, ... In particular, this technology could result in the development of high-frequency computer chips with greatly reduced power consumption."
