Ronkonkoma company wins presidential exporting award

A Ronkonkoma-based supplier of titanium, aluminum, steel and other domestically made metals to manufacturers of aerospace parts and other products has won the nation’s highest honor for exporting, the President’s “E” Award, officials said.

Industrial Metals International Ltd. is among 123 businesses and organizations to receive “E” awards this year.

Company president Matt Reagan and vice president Amy Okamoto accepted the award this week from U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker. The ceremony was part of the federal government’s celebration of World Trade Month, which aims to boost exporting by U.S. firms.

In a letter to Industrial Metals, Pritzker said the judges were “impressed with [the company’s] dedication to adapt its product line for export markets. The company’s work to develop a comprehensive export compliance program was also particularly notable,” she said.

Industrial Metals was the only local company to be recognized this year. A total of four New York State businesses were honored, including two from New York City.

Industrial Metals, started after World War II, says it is the world’s largest seller of 17-4PH stainless-steel tubing.
