The X-ray systems maker Quantum Medical Imaging LLC, of Ronkonkoma, has been bought by a Rochester company.

No dollar figures were provided in a news release from Quantum, which describes itself as "a privately-held manufacturer of high-quality digital and conventional x-ray systems used by hospitals, imaging centers and health clinics."

Quantum's headquarters, employees and management team will remain in Ronkonkoma, where it recently extended its lease through 2018.

The buyer is Carestream Health.

Newsday reported on Quantum as a startup 10 years ago, under the headline: "X-RAY FIRM HOPES NEW VENTURE ISN'T QUANTUM LEAP."

Run by Scott Matovich, Quantum was started in Bohemia by a small group of former long-time executives at the old Bennett X-Ray and Trex Medical companies that left Long Island in the 1990s.
