Ruby Tuesday to close 95 restaurants by September

Ruby Tuesday Inc. said Friday it would shutter 95 company-owned restaurants by September. The company didn’t announce a list of locations that will close.
There are seven Ruby Tuesday locations on Long Island, according to the company’s website. They are in Westbury, Farmingdale, Deer Park, Medford, Commack, Selden and Sayville.
Ruby Tuesday had 724 restaurants as of May 31, including 646 that were company-operated, the company said.
Ruby Tuesday disclosed the plan to close restaurants when it reported earnings Friday.
“While the decision to close restaurants has been extremely difficult, it is a necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our organization. We will be sharing the information on specific restaurant closures in the coming days,” a spokeswoman said.
Shares of the Maryville, Tennessee restaurant chain slid more than 13 percent Friday after it reported weak sales. The stock lost 49 cents to $3.24. With Aisha Al-Muslim
