Two local businesses are partnering to offer a seminar on Wednesday to encourage employers to boost their hiring of workers with disabilities.

Human-resource consulting firm Portnoy, Messinger, Pearl & Associates Inc. in Syosset and the nonprofit Abilities Inc. in Albertson will focus on where to find skilled candidates and on the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities. Those benefits include dedicated employees with low turnover rates, the groups said.

The gathering will include a panel of workers with disabilities and local businesses that have successfully hired such workers.

The seminar will take place at the Viscardi Center, the parent of Abilities Inc., located at 201 I.U. Willets Rd. in Albertson. The seminar will run from 8:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30, which includes a continental breakfast.
