Stephen R. Green of Locust Valley, former chairman and chief executive of now-defunct MayfairCapital Group in Manhattan, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Manhattan to 41 months in prison for committing securities fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud investors of more than $5.75 million, prosecutors announced.

He was arrested in August on charges of lying to an unnamed export firm to get money wired to investment schemes for deals that never materialized. Sentence was imposed by U. S. District Judge John G. Koeltl.
