The public is invited to bring unwanted documents and electronic devices to be shredded at a free event in Shirley this month sponsored by Teachers Federal Credit Union.

The "Shredding Day" event will take place Oct. 23 at the 437 William Floyd Parkway branch parking lot on Oct. 23, a Saturday, from 9 a.m.-noon.

"Members of the credit union and the local community are invited to drop off paper records and electronic waste for secure destruction and recycling," the credit union said in a news release.

Paper documents will be shredded on-site.

Computer hard drives and cellphones, or other electronics that store data, will be taken away and shredded securely - they will not be resold, the credit union said.

Computers
Computer monitors
Electronic games
Keyboards
Scanners
Printers
CD players
Radios
