The chief executive for Woodbury-based Jennifer Convertibles acknowledged he’d been drinking before authorities say he drove into a bus-depot security guard who was crossing a New York City highway on foot. The guard died on the roadway.
Jennifer Convertibles chief executive Harley J. Greenfield has been released without bail. He was arraigned Thursday night on a charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol or drugs. It’s a traffic violation. He didn’t enter a plea.
A court complaint says Greenfield told a police officer he’d had a vodka
drink and a glass of wine before he felt his car hit something on the
Whitestone Expressway in Queens Wednesday night.
The security guard, Mohammed Rohman, was 45.
Greenfield’s lawyer and a spokesman for Woodbury-based
Jennifer Convertibles Inc. didn’t immediately return calls Friday.
