Some things cheaper, some not

Despite cheaper lettuce and ground beef, inflation in the greater New York area crept up 0.1 percent in July compared to June, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The index for food overall dropped 0.3 percent while shelter rose 0.3 percent.
But prices for food at home — including lettuce and ground beef — fell 0.6 percent, the largest decline since July 2009.
The Consumer Price Index rose 1.5 percent compared to a year ago.
