Locations in Smithtown, Massapequa and East Meadow are being scouted by a Sonic Drive-In franchisee for new restaurant sites, the company said Thursday.

That's in addition to a confirmed location in North Babylon, a Sonic spokeswoman said.

"At this point, the only town that is confirmed is North Babylon which is set to open in spring 2011," the company said.

"The franchisee is looking at the other towns for expansion opportunities including East Meadow, Smithtown and Massapequa, however they are not confirmed.

They would open after the North Babylon location.

All Sonic Drive-ins have carhop service, and the company encourages all franchisees to have their carhops on roller skates.

Though Sonic's advertisements often run on TV on Long Island, the closest locations right now are in New Jersey and upstate New York.
