Start-up summit and pitch contest in Mineola

LaunchPad Long Island, a co-working and business incubator space in Mineola, will host a "Start-Up Summit' this weekend.
The event will feature a six speakers that will address issues such as marketing, using a lean business model, patents, etc, and take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The first hour will be devoted to networking, with the rest of the time split between two breakout sessions. During each session, attendees will get to choose between three concurrent talks by the speaker lineup, which includes local lawyers and business people.
Additionally, LaunchPad will host a pitch contest for five early-stage companies Monday night from 6:30 p.m. The companies will have a 10-minute pitch session, and be rated by judges and the audience to win a prize.
Those interested in attending either event can register at www.meetup.com/LaunchPadLI/, attendance is free for the summit, and $20 for the pitch night.
