Suffolk County has launched a new website to help small businesses and startups access potential government aid and cut down on bureaucratic processes for those looking to expand.

The site will act as a hub for county businesses and will serve as Suffolk’s center for business development needs and services. Business owners will be able to access resources on the county, state and federal levels of government, including accessing loans from the Small Business Administration, pandemic relief programs, tax incentives and grant funding opportunities.

For more information on the site’s tools, visit SuffolkCountyNY.gov/BusinessHub.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has created incredible challenges for small business, and while large corporations have received substantial government support, our small businesses have not been given as many opportunities,” Suffolk County Legis. Sarah Anker (D-Mount Sinai) said in a statement about the site.

Anker sponsored legislation last year that called for the creation of the business resource website last year.

Anker said that the site provides many helpful resources, including “relevant government department contacts, and COVID-19- related guidance information.”

Businesses planning construction or expansion projects can also use the site to request assistance in the building-permitting process as part of an effort to “cut through red tape,” according to the county.

Additionally, the site provides interested businesses with information on becoming a county vendor and allows them to sign up and automatically receive bid applications and requests for proposal.
