Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office has announced the dates and locations for public hearings aimed at closing the gender pay gap in New York State.

They will take place in Manhattan on Monday, June 26, in Syracuse on July 11 and in Buffalo on July 19.

The hearings will solicit testimony from academics, workers and business owners who want to offer solutions on how to close the pay gap between men and women.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon are spearheading the effort. They will later submit policy recommendations.

The Washington, D.C.-based National Partnership for Women and Families estimates that women in New York earn on average 89 cents for every dollar paid to men. The disparity is even greater for minority women.
