State guide to doing business
New York State has a new interactive guide for those who want to do business with the state.
It promises to help companies negotiate the state's purchasing and procurement practices.
It was compiled by the state Office of General Services and the Empire State Development agency, and is offered on their websites.
On Friday morning, the link was active on both agencies' websites, and worked well on the Empire State Development site — however the guide link crashed when accessed on the OGS site through the Mozilla Firefox browser (though it worked fine with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers).
"The state of New York is a complex and decentralized marketplace with procurements of goods and services valued in the billions of dollars," a state news release said.
Among the guide's categories:
* New York State's Procurement Practices
* Where To Find Bid Opportunities
* How To Be A Successful Bidder
* Guidance for Small, Minority and Women Owned Businesses
