State offers insurance help to residents, business owners
Long Island homeowners, renters and business owners who experienced Sandy storm damage can get help with insurance questions at mobile clinics and from a telephone hotline.
The state Department of Financial Services will bring its mobile command center to the Amityville/Lindenhurst Home Depot at 1101 Sunrise Hwy. in Copiague on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The mobile clinic also will visit The Riviera at 200 East Shore Dr. in Massapequa on Jan 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, it will make stops in Brooklyn on Jan. 20 and 23; in Queens on Jan. 24; and on Staten Island on Jan. 22.
The state representatives will answer questions about insurance coverage and help people contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so.
Those who cannot make it to the mobile clinics can call the state’s storm hotline at 800-339-1759 daily, including weekends, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Insurance information is also available online at www.dfs.ny.gov.
