As New York Giants fans await the weekend's big game, the New York State comptroller has jumped on the bandwagon. Tom DiNapoli has posted a new item on his website -- a game called Financial Football -- using the Super Bowl to market a method of helping young people handle money wisely.

Co-sponsored by the Visa credit card company and the NFL, the site displays games in which your team's offensive or defensive plays succeed only if you correctly answer a consumer finance question.

A Newsday reporter on Friday decided to see what the game would do to a player who (deliberately) answered every question wrong. It wasn't pretty. A few plays later, the reporter's team was 4th and 22, back to the goal line.

"Young adults in New York should know how to make intelligent money management decisions as early as possible,” DiNapoli said in a news release announcing the addition of the game to his Your Money New York website.

“Financial Football is a great way to get students and young adults interested in their finances by giving them the tools they can use to make smart financial decisions."
