After a day of gains, stocks close with loses

Stock indexes closed slightly lower Monday. Six of 10 sectors in the Standard & Poor's 500 index fell; industrial stocks slid the most.
At the close on Wall Street, the Standard & Poor's 500 index was down 3.7 points, or about 0.2 percent, at 2,104.4. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 11.6 points, or about 0.1 percent, to 18,116. The Nasdaq composite, which fluctuated all morning gave up 15.4 points, about 0.3 percent, at 5,011.
The Nasdaq is not far from its record high last seen during the dot-com bubble in 2000. The S&P 500 jumped nearly 3 percent last week, its biggest weekly gain since early February.
Railroad operator Kansas City Southern posted the biggest decline. It fell 8 percent after lowering its revenue outlook for the year.
Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 1.91 percent from 1.93 percent late Friday.
