Financial markets closed mostly lower Wednesday, pulled down by a fall in Apple and other technology companies.

At the close on Wall Street, the Standard & Poor's 500 was down 1.6 points, or nearly 0.1 percent, to close at 2,000,7. The tech-dominated Nasdaq slid 25.6 points, or nearly 0.6 percent, to 4,572.6. Only the Dow Jones industrial average edged up 10.7 points, or nearly 0.1 percent, to 17,078.3.

Apple fell 4.2 percent after rival Samsung unveiled two smartphones at a trade show in Berlin. The unveiling comes less than a week before Apple is expected to reveal products.
