Stony Brook University receives $25G for entrepreneur program
Stony Brook University received a $25,000 grant for the creation of a entrepreneur-in-residence program for the biotech sector.
Stony Brook University has received $25,000 as part of a series of State University of New York grants to build entrepreneur-in-residence programs.
A total of $120,000 in grants were awarded to 12 SUNY schools to aid them in bringing on the expertise of private-sector entrepreneurs to their respective campuses.
At Stony Brook, the grant will go toward creating a bio-entreprenur-in-residence program, which will work to nurture company creation in the biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
The program could also cater to local initiatives, as many Long Island officials and business execs have pointed to the creation of companies from research coming out of the local universities and national labs as a way to re-energize the local economy.
