The Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency is seeking applications for the job of executive director and chief executive.

Applicants should send a resume and cover letter outlining their qualifications to the development agency's office in the Dennison Building in Hauppauge. The deadline is June 7.

The job pays between $110,000 and $130,000 per year.

David Rosenberg, vice chairman of the board of directors, said Thursday it would review the materials submitted to determine which candidates to interview.

"The agency will certainly consider applications," he said. "We are prepared to consider the experience and qualifications of anybody . . . and we will make a determination as to who is the best candidate for the position."

The agency's longtime executive director and chief executive, Bruce E. Ferguson, resigned last week. He plans to become a consultant.

Rosenberg said the board would like to hire a successor quickly to ensure no disruption in agency operations. "In view of the fact that Bruce has already resigned, effective as of Aug. 31, we'd like to complete the process as soon as possible so the overlap could be as long as possible to help in the transition."

Earlier this week, the board interviewed political strategist and fundraiser Anthony Manetta. His candidacy is backed by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, though the development agency is not controlled by Bellone.

Applications should be mailed to the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, H. Lee Dennison Building (third floor), 100 Veterans Memorial Hwy., P.O. Box 6100, Hauppauge, NY 11788.
