Two new stores are coming to Tanger Outlets in Riverhead this summer.

Sports fashion retailer JD Sports and fragrance purveyor Perfumania are expected to open in late June, according to Tanger. The two are the latest in a string of additions that include The Children's Place and a 1,500-square-foot Yankee Candle store.

JD Sports will occupy 5,000 square feet near Under Armour; Perfumania will take over a 1,200-square-foot space near American Eagle, according to a news release.

Yankee Candle opened in March ahead of its projected April opening, store manager Helen Rueb said in a phone interview. But what seemed like an arrival was actually a homecoming, according to Rueb — the candle chain had a storefront at the same outlet center several years back, she said.

Yankee Candle, JD Sports and Perfumania each also have a storefront at Tanger's Deer Park outlet center.

Tanger Inc. owns open-air shopping centers on Long Island and across the country. A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission report lists more than 30 properties in locations including Arizona, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas and Alabama. The lowest listed occupancy rate among consolidated centers was 92.9%, with most at or closer to 100%, as of December.

At the close of 2025, the 729,377-square-foot outdoor mall in Riverhead had a 98.4% occupancy rate, according to the SEC. Its Deer Park counterpart, covering 737,473 square feet, was 100% occupied at that time, according to the report.

In 2025, Tanger Inc. reported a revenue total of $581,562,000 — an 11% increase from 2024 — according to the company's Annual Report for 2025.
