Teacher wins fellowship award

Dina Barone, of Central Islip, has received the Richard Gazzola Teacher Fellowship Award from the Suffolk County PTA based on her efforts to address the “various needs and abilities of each and every child in her classroom.”

Barone is an English teacher at Udall Road Middle School in West Islip and is also the school’s cheerleading coach and student council adviser. She is the sole Suffolk County teacher to receive the annual award and was honored at the district’s Board of Education meeting in April.
