WHAT'S GOOD If you've ever searched your television for On Demand PBS programs, you know they are not offered. You can, however, find full streaming episodes on your computer at thirteen.org. WNET makes the experience even more convenient with its app Thirteen Explore (download at bit.ly/136Dx8Z). Now you can take full, streaming episodes from room to room or on the road with a Wi-Fi connection and your iPad. Among the shows you can view are "American Masters," "Great Performances," "Frontline," "American Experience," "Nature," "NOVA," "Antiques Roadshow," "Market Warriors" and "Austin City Limits." You'll also find episodes of WNET's locally produced "NYC-ARTS," "Treasures of New York," "MetroFocus" and "NJ Today."
The app has a clean, attractive design and is organized much better and is easier to navigate than the PBS mobile app. You can search for programs from the alphabetical drop list at the top of the app's home screen, or by category. Other features include links to enter giveaways for show-related prize packages and tickets, and program schedules from which you can add upcoming shows to your iPad calendar
WHAT'S NOT You won't find every show that airs on PBS or WNET. For example, there are only a handful of "Masterpiece" productions, and they don't include the smash "Downton Abbey."
BOTTOM LINE If WNET is your must-see TV, this is your must-have app.
