Duke Nukem released at E3, cruder than ever

 
It’s been 14 years since Duke Nukem laid waste to invading aliens, but he’s back and cruder than ever.

Duke Nukem Forever is a basic first-person shooter. The game mechanics are pretty simple, the graphics are cartoonish and the storyline is a bit laughable – but honestly, it doesn’t matter. You play this to relive those first moments of Duke Nukem singlehandedly inventing the “Mature” video game rating.

The game is pretty violent. According to the ESRB, Duke Nukem Forever was given a Mature rating for “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol.”

Shock value aside, Duke Nukem does have a storyline. There is a single campaign mode that shows Duke as rich and famous after gaining notoriety from kicking alien butt in his last game. Not surprisingly, the aliens are back looking for revenge. 

Bringing the Duke into the 21st century, there are four different multiplayer modes. Deathmatch and team deathmatch modes (named Duke Match and Team Duke Match respectively) are what you'd expect.

There's also Hail to the King, in which teamed players secure and protect control point throughout the 10 available maps in the multiplayer mode.

The fourth multiplayer mode is called “Capture the Babe” (yeah, you read that right) . Players compete to capture the opposite team’s flag, er, babe, and take her back to their base -- over your shoulder.
