Facebook profile updates cause downtime

At 4:30pm on December 16th Facebook seemed to push out their long awaited updates to the profile pages. With mixed reviews, people all over the internet application started noticing some of the changes. Some of the apparent changes include.

1. No more comment post button, return posts a comment (not a new feature just a result of the upgrade)
2. Latest photos on the top of profile pages
3. Summary of interests based on profile information

But thats about all I got to notice as the site failed to load new pages from email messages. tried hitting the home page with no luck. As of right now, they are still down.

UPDATE: They are back up as of 5pm today.
