Love 'em or hate 'em, this summer's theaters will be dominated by live action comic book adaptations. Thor, Captain America, X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern are looking to pull in the hardcore comic book fans and casual movie goers alike.

Trailers for all the movies have already been released and it looks like Green Lantern has jumped ahead of the pack with an incredible, new four minute trailer released at this year's Comic-con in San Francisco.

Regardless of your familiarity with the Green Lantern franchise, the trailer will have fans and casual movie goers salivating for more. The clip shows actor Ryan Reynolds donning a Green Lantern costume. We also get to see the Green Lantern world Oa as well as some of the main characters, like love interest Carol Ferris, Kilowog, Sinestro and the soul consuming villain Parallax.

Unfortunately there weren't many shots of Reynold's using his ring's powers, but there is one scene where he dreams up a machine gun as a weapon.

If you're not familiar with the Green Lantern franchise, you can get at brief background from this Wikipedia entry. Also, Warner Bros. released an animated version of the origins of the Green Lantern that stays true to the comics called Green Lantern: First Flight.

The DC Comics superhero adaptation is scheduled for release on June 17. Check out the full trailer in HD below.
