How to . . . create a canned reply in Gmail
Out-of-office messages are great when you want to send the same reply, but what if you want to send certain replies to certain messages? Gmail can automate this process.
1. When you are logged into your inbox, click on "Settings," then click the "Labs" tab. Scroll down and click to enable "Canned Responses," then scroll down to the bottom to save your changes. You should now see a little green icon at the top of your inbox.
2. To compose a canned reply, start a new e-mail message and type the response you want to send in the body. When done, click the drop-down arrow next to "Canned responses," select "new canned response." Give your response a title, click "OK" to save it.
3. Your response will be available whenever you are in an e-mail. Click the drop-down arrow next to "Canned responses," choose the one you want. The response will be pasted into the body of your message.
