One nice feature of Windows 7 is that it gives users the ability to rearrange the order of taskbar buttons by simply dragging and dropping them. If you are running an earlier version of Windows -- even Win95 -- a freeware program will give you the same flexibility.

1. Go to nerd cave.webs .com and download either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Taskbar Shuffle, depending on which operating system your computer has.

2. If you are unsure whether you need the 32- or 64-bit version, go to support. microsoft.com/kb/827218 and follow the Microsoft Support directions to determine the operating system bit count of your computer.

3. Once Taskbar Shuffle is installed, you can rearrange buttons on both the taskbar and in the system tray (to the right of the taskbar) by dragging and dropping them. For even more options, such as grouping similar buttons without collapsing them into one, open the program's settings.
