If you received a new iPad 2 over the holiday season, chances are you are still exploring its features. Here are just a few tips that might make it easier for you to navigate and use your new tablet.

1. If you're reading in bed, iPad's automatic screen rotation can be annoying. To lock rotation, on the home screen tap "Settings" and select "General." Under "Use Side Switch to:" select "Lock Rotation." Now, whenever you want to lock rotation, slide the round button on the right side of your iPad.

2. If you discover the time is incorrect, tap "Settings," select "General" and then select "Date & Time." Turn "Set Automatically" to the off position, select "Set Date & Time" and fix accordingly. Before turning on "Set Automatically," be sure the "Time Zone" is correct.

3. Remember to turn off any apps you're not using. Just switching to a different app leaves your former app running in the background. Press the "Home" button twice in quick succession. To turn off displayed icons, press any one until it starts wiggling. Then, hit the minus sign on apps you want to close.
