Super Mario Galaxy 2

If you're an avid Super Mario fan, you're in for a treat with the newest installment of Mario Galaxy.

Nintendo in their usual style have created a game that is visually stimulating as well as challenging.

I won’t ruin the game by going into too much detail about the story, but essentially it’s the classic Mario storyline. Bowser, who has found a way to harness the power of stars, yet again kidnaps Princess Peach. By nabbing these power stars he has made himself so huge that he needs a larger place to reign terror, the universe. In classic hero style, Mario launches into space with his goomba stomping powers to chase after the now-massive Bowser.

By befriending the stars, Mario gets his very own spaceship, which after agreeing to help gain back the stars power from Bowser, changes into a huge Mario head. Your spaceship is the base for traveling the universe searching for power stars to help fuel your spaceship and rescue the princess.

Nintendo has done a brilliant job with creating a unique game play that will keep you glued to your search for star power. Using the Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk you’ll combine thumb-stick movement with shaking and point-and-shoot actions. At first the controls can be a bit complicated, but you’ll soon fall into the groove. With quick shakes Mario uses his spin move, and by pointing the Wii remote you can collect star bits, which you can then hurl at enemies to stun them. A second player can join in on the action by using Luma, Mario's under the hat helper to collect stars and stun enemies.

Help Mario transverse a seemingly infinite number of galaxies, all with their own themes and puzzles to challenge your platform gaming skills. With the help of Yoshi you’ll inherit a whole new set of tongue-whipping, flutter-jumping, inflating and speed-dashing abilities, which add new ways to solve puzzles and access new areas.
If you find yourself stuck, the game gives you many tutorials and helpers along the way so all ages can enjoy the action-packed play.

The galaxies are just awesome, each with special traits and laws of nature that make them unique. You’ll encounter all sorts of new enemies as well as the classics we know and love from all other Super Mario titles.

Platform gamers will be amazed with all of the puzzles and unique environments that Nintendo has created. I found myself wowed by the abilities you inherit and the places you can explore.

If you like the Super Mario games or platform games in general, definitely pick this one up. With the hours of game play and constant challenges, it’s sure to pull you out of reality and into the mushroom kingdom.
