Joseph J. Battaglia already carries the titles of president and chief executive of defense contractor Telephonics Corp based in Farmingdale.
Now add honorary chief petty officer of the Coast Guard to those designations.
Battaglia received the honorary rank in a ceremony with Coast Guard brass, Telephonics said in a news release Monday. Commandant Adm. Bob Papp and Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Leavitt awarded the title in front of the Coast Guard Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery.
Battaglia has been a longtime supporter of the Coast Guard Foundation and related causes.
“This is an incredible honor, and one I will always be thankful for,” Battaglia said.
Telephonics, with more than 1,000 employees, is a unit of Griffon Corp.
