Telephonics reorganizes leadership structure

Farmingdale-based Telephonics Corp. has promoted one of its executives, Kevin McSweeney, to a newly created position as chief operating officer.
McSweeney will report directly to Joseph J. Battaglia, the company’s president and chief executive.
“This is part of a reorganization of Telephonics’ leadership team that has been undertaken to better facilitate planned growth and business development,” the company said in a Wednesday statement.
Telephonics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corp., specializes in airborne maritime surveillance radar and aircraft intercommunication management systems.
McSweeney has worked for Telephonics since 2004, managing its radar systems division. He will continue his oversight of that area and will add responsibilities for the company’s communications and integrated systems, systems engineering and business development units.
Telephonics also said it has promoted another executive, Gary Fortmeyer, to vice president and general manager of the radar systems division.
The company is also looking to fill another top job; it has undertaken a candidate search for vice president and general manager of the communications and integrated systems division.
