Check-casher Pay-O-Matic extends its debit card

Pay-O-Matic extends prepaid debit card offering with ads starring Mexican actress Penélope Menchaca
The Syosset-based check cashing company Pay-O-Matic says it will extend its prepaid, rechargeable debit card — and an advertising campaign that features the Mexican television show host Penélope Menchaca.
The card is called excella (with a lowercase e), and is mostly marketed to check-cashing customers who do not have bank accounts.
Pay-O-Matic operates in retail stores on Long Island in Coram, Medford, Freeport and Carle Place, and in all five boroughs of New York City.
A Houston debit card company FSV Payment Systems Inc. said in a news release this week that it has signed a new three-year contract with Pay-O-Matic to continue marketing the excella card.
"Together over the past three years, we have worked to make Pay-O-Matic's new excella product the most successful new prepaid product in the market," the Houston company said.
"We are proud of the partnership we have fostered with Pay-O-Matic and the results we have jointly achieved."
Pay-O-Matic bills itself as "the largest check cashing and financial service provider focused on the under-banked market in New York State."
Penélope Menchaca hosts a dating game show, "12 Corazones" (A Dozen Hearts) on Telemundo.
