KEY EVENT: Grand March? After a robust January and February, the U.S. employment situation slowed dramatically in March. Did last month's national slowdown also affect Nassau and Suffolk? That question is answered Tuesday when the state Labor Department releases March unemployment rates for Nassau, Suffolk and Long Island as a whole.

MONDAY: Earnings from Hasbro, IBM and Morgan Stanley.

TUESDAY: Earnings from media company Gannett, Verizon Communications, Yahoo and Pizza Hut owner Yum Brands.

WEDNESDAY: Existing home sales for March from the National Association of Realtors and single-family home prices for February from the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Earnings: Lake Success bank company Astoria Financial, Melville software maker FalconStor, AT&T, Boeing, Coca-Cola, eBay, Facebook.

THURSDAY: The Commerce Department releases new home sales for March. Also, jobless benefits claims for the week ended April 18 from the U.S. Labor Department. Earnings: 3M, Caterpillar, Google, Microsoft, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble.

FRIDAY: Durable goods for March from the Commerce Department, an update on orders to manufacturers for a wide range of long-lasting, expensive items such as refrigerators, airplanes and TVs. Earnings: Roosevelt Field mall owner Simon Property.
