MONDAY: Earnings from Melville medical products distributor Henry Schein, Avis Budget Group and Marathon Oil.

TUESDAY: June factory orders from the Commerce Department. Also, the Institute for Supply Management posts its June services sector index, a look at nonmanufacturing businesses. Earnings: Bethpage cable provider and Newsday owner Cablevision Systems, Garden City kitchenware seller Lifetime Brands, CVS Caremark, Walt Disney, Motorola Solutions.

WEDNESDAY: The nation's trade balance in June from the Commerce Department. Earnings: Port Washington shopping centers owner Cedar Realty Trust, Jericho gas station properties owner Getty Realty, Time Warner, Viacom.

THURSDAY: Jobless benefits claims for the week ended Aug. 2. Also, consumer credit for June from the Federal Reserve. Earnings: Lake Success investor documents provider Broadridge Financial Solutions, Medford medical tests maker Chembio Diagnostics, CBS, Con Ed.

FRIDAY: Second-quarter worker productivity and labor costs from the Labor Department. Earnings: newspapers and TV stations owner E.W. Scripps.
