Next-generation smartphones, tablets, TVs and computer chips are expected to be unveiled. MONDAY: Earnings from cleaning products maker Zep and WEDNESDAY: Earnings from wine and liquor distributor Constellation Brands and consumer products seller Helen of Troy.

THURSDAY: Claims for jobless benefits for the week ended Jan. 5 from the Labor Department. Earnings: Melville industrial supplies distributor MSC Industrial Direct.

FRIDAY: Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone discuss the local economy in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy and the outlook for jobs at a Long Island Association event at Crest Hollow Country Club in Jericho. Also, international trade for November from the Commerce Department.
