The Week Ahead: Feb. 13-17
KEY EVENT: No W-2? If you don't receive a W-2 or 1099 form by Wednesday and your employer is uncooperative, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. If your employer went out of business and didn't send a W-2, download IRS Form 4852 "Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement" (irs.gov) and calculate your wage data using 2011 pay stubs.
MONDAY: Earnings from Amityville alarm maker Napco Security Technologies.
TUESDAY: Retail sales for January and business inventories for December, both from the Commerce Department. Earnings: Avon Products, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, MetLife.
WEDNESDAY: The Federal Reserve releases the minutes from its Jan. 25 meeting and, separately, data on January industrial production. The New York Fed issues its look at manufacturing activity in New York State for February. And earnings from Melville dental and medical products distributor Henry Schein.
THURSDAY: Producer price index for January from the Labor Department offers a snapshot of inflation at the wholesale level. Earnings: DirecTV, Molson Coors, Nordstrom.
FRIDAY: The Labor Department's consumer price index for January tracks how much consumers pay for everyday items and is the month's key inflation gauge. The report includes data for the Long Island/New York City/northern New Jersey region. Earnings: Campbell Soup.
