The Week Ahead: Feb. 6-10
KEY EVENT: Petroleum inventories (Wednesday). With higher gas prices and a gallon of heating oil up more than 15 percent on the Island since last winter, the Energy Department's report on U.S. petroleum supplies and consumer demand for the week ended Feb. 3 has added importance.
MONDAY: Earnings from Pizza Hut and Taco Bell owner Yum! Brands and toymaker Hasbro. Locally, Plainview LED and solar cell equipment maker Veeco Instruments releases financial results for the fourth quarter.
TUESDAY: Consumer credit for December from the Federal Reserve. Earnings: Coca-Cola, Walt Disney and Lake Success financial information provider Broadridge Financial Solutions.
WEDNESDAY: Earnings from New Hyde Park-based shopping center owner Kimco Realty, CVS Caremark, News Corp., Time Warner, Ralph Lauren and Sprint Nextel.
THURSDAY: Claims for unemployment benefits for the week ended Jan. 28 from the Labor Department. Also, wholesale trade for December from the Commerce Department. Earnings: PepsiCo and Bubble Wrap maker Sealed Air. Locally, Port Washington specialty chemical maker Aceto and Plainview test and measuring equipment supplier Aeroflex Holding.
FRIDAY: The Commerce Department reports on December imports and exports, a trade deficit indicator. Also, University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey for early February.
