KEY EVENT. Revise the FAFSA. Parents of college-bound and continuing students who filed their income taxes after submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid application must change the status on the online FAFSA form to indicate their 2011 tax returns have been completed and, if necessary, update income and tax data.

MONDAY. Pending home sales for February from the National Association of Realtors. Earnings: for-profit university owner Apollo Group.

TUESDAY. S&P Case-Shiller home price index for January, the most closely watched gauge of the housing market. Last month's report showed prices in the New York metropolitan area fell to their lowest level since 2003. Also, consumer confidence for February from The Conference Board. Earnings: Walgreens, spice seller McCormick, home builder Lennar.

WEDNESDAY. The Commerce Department posts February durable goods orders, a leading indicator of future manufacturing activity. Earnings: Melville tool maker P&F Industries, Family Dollar Stores, software maker Red Hat.

THURSDAY. The third and final estimate of GDP in the fourth quarter of 2011 from the Commerce Department. Also, new claims for unemployment benefits for the week ended March 24 from the Labor Department. Earnings: Best Buy.

FRIDAY. Household income and spending for February from the Commerce Department.
