Feast of news. A week abbreviated by Thanksgiving and punctuated by Black Friday still has more than its share of important economic reports, highlighted by updates on the local jobs scene, the national housing market and GDP.

MONDAY: Two of the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks -- Chicago and Dallas -- report on economic conditions in their areas.

TUESDAY: The state Labor Department posts unemployment rates for Nassau, Suffolk and Long Island as a whole for October. Also, the Case-Shiller home prices report for September. And the Commerce Department posts an updated accounting of third-quarter GDP. Earnings: Port Washington filtrations systems maker Pall, Hewlett-Packard, Tiffany.

WEDNESDAY: New home sales from the Commerce Department and pending home sales from the National Association of Realtors, both for October. The Commerce Department also posts durable goods orders and personal income, both for October. And jobless benefits claims for the week ended Nov. 22 from the U.S. Labor Department.

THURSDAY: Financial markets closed for Thanksgiving.

FRIDAY: The day after Thanksgiving means Black Friday, one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Also, the stock market closes early.
