Tim Hortons, the Canadian doughnut and coffee retail chain, is set to serve Islanders hockey fans with a new shop at the Nassau Coliseum, the chain said.
The Canadian chain is accelerating its growth in the U.S., adding a coffee shop at the Pittsburgh Penguins' stadium at the same time it opens a shop at the Coliseum, in Uniondale.
"Tim Hortons and hockey go together like coffee and donuts. Now NHL fans in Pittsburgh and Long Island, NY can enjoy them all," a Wednesday news release said.
The company was founded in 1964 by NHL hall-of-famer Tim Horton, who played hockey for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres until his death in 1974. Above are patrons of the Tim Hortons at Penn Station in Manhattan.
