About 20 social media fans gathered Thursday night in East Meadow at the Alure Home Improvement Showroom to catch up, admire the sinks, and, of course, tweet.

It was the end-of-summer LITweetUp at which attendees leaned against marble kitchen counters -- with more that a few leaning over their handheld devices -- as Jeff Namnum, known on Twitter as @namnum, reminded the group that this is not a “30-second elevator pitch from hell situation” where people push business cards in your face.

Even as one attendee tweeted a photo of Namnum standing in front of a toilet and bidet, the conversation turned serious as he spoke of, among other things, the group’s upcoming LITweetUp Helps, a holiday social event for collecting food for Island Harvest. This year “there are a lot more hungry people” on Long Island, he said.

Still, there were plenty of tweets praising the location and the sweet potato tater tots. Dee Karl, a hockey fan known as @7thWoman, tweeted with a photo, “I want this sink!!!”
