The United States is one of the few industrialized countries that doesn’t mandate paid time off for employees.

Neither federal nor New York state laws require companies to offer it. But many employers do offer vacation, personal and sick days to attract talented workers.

With no mandated paid time off, it’s no wonder that Americans log more work hours than their counterparts in most other industrialized countries, according to the Economic Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. View graphic here.
