The union representing Stop & Shop's meat, deli and seafood workers has again postponed a strike vote which was scheduled for Monday, as its leaders continue to negotiate with company officials.

This is the second time the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 342, which represents about 800 Long Island workers, has postponed the vote. Union leaders initially called for a strike vote on March 1, after almost two years of negotiation. Union members have been working under a contract that expired in October 2011.

"UFCW Local 342 has postponed a strike vote scheduled for Monday, March 4th, while we continue to work to find mutually agreeable solutions to remaining bargaining issues," the union said in a statement.
