Union hiring 12 tile and marble apprentices
The Tile, Marble and Terrazzo Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Local Union No. 7 will begin taking applications Wednesday for 12 apprenticeships: three marble carver, cutter and setters; three terrazzo workers; three tile, marble and terrazzo finishers, and three tile setters.
Applications can be obtained at the International Masonry Institute, 12-07 44th Ave., in Long Island City, Queens, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, and on April 29, June 24, July 29, Sept. 30, Oct. 28 and Dec. 16.
Applications and an exam will be done on site. Applicants should be 18 or older, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses, have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, submit to a skills exam and be physically able to do the work.
